Born in Alliance, Nebraska to working class parents who decended from homesteading farmers and ranchers in Northern Box Butte County. He attended his first day of school in Chadron, Nebraska before his family moved back to Alliance for the remainder of Kindergarden to the middle of his 4th grade year.
Jarrod moved around the Denver Metro with his father in the early to mid-1990s. Attending two Aurora Public Elementary Schools, Denver Public's Albert Place Middle School, Adams 12's Niver Creek Middle School (Formerly Pecos Jr. High , and Adams 14's Adams City Middle School.
Jarrod returned to Alliance where he completed all four years of high school at Alliance High School. His involvment in Future Farmers of America is where he learned Parlimentary Procudure and Robert's Rules. He earned a State FFA Degree in Poultry and Sheep Production by keeping records of his projects through all four years.
